The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), was recently honoured by the President, Nguyen Minh Triet, to become nation's leader in the exports sector.

Since 15 years, Vietnam's apparel and textile segments have turned the nation into one of the top ten apparel exporters, the world over, informed President Triet, during a ceremony in Hanoi, which graced the 15th anniversary of Vinatex's existence and it receiving the Gold Star award, the highest honour given to an industrial sector by the country.

But yet, the President has urged the company to continue with their progress and help Vietnam attain the position, of the best apparel producer in the world.

In addition, President Triet has also asked Vinatex to pay more heed to hike sales of its products in the local markets, which in-turn, will help increase the company's competitiveness and consequently open-up more markets for Vietnamese goods.

He further pressed upon the firm's plans to improve personnel training and human resource development.

Apparently, Vietnam is likely to earn US $10.5 billion from textile and apparel exports in 2010, which will be 12 times more, than the figures recorded 15 years ago.

While currently, Vietnam trades with over 70 countries, it is the second biggest exporter of textiles and apparels to the US, third for Japan and holds the ninth position in the European Union.
