Dickies American Worker of the Year by Sears & Kmart
Jun '10
Dickies, the innovative work and lifestyle apparel brand, is proud to announce the search for its 18th annual Dickies American Worker of the Year presented by Sears and Kmart and honoring hard working individuals across the country.

For 18 years, the Dickies American Worker of the Year program has recognized committed, hard working people who take pride in what they do and lead by example. Workers can enter or be nominated by answering two questions – what hard work means to them and how they exemplify the American worker. Entries are submitted via www.workeroftheyear.com until July 15. To thank participants for helping discover the next American Worker of the Year, everyone who nominates someone for the program will receive an online coupon good for $5 off their next Dickies purchase of $10 or more at Sears.com, Kmart.com or Dickies.com.

“Dickies is proud to recognize hard-working Americans who are responsible for keeping this country moving,” said Chris Prokopeas, vice president of marketing for Dickies. “America was built on hard work and perseverance, values that still ring true today, and we continue to honor those that go above and beyond in their daily lives.”

Previous honorees have included teachers, an oil field roughneck, farmers, builders, an electrical lineman and soldiers, representing the diversity that weaves through the fabric of the American workforce. In 2009, agriculture teacher and horse trainer Michael McGee of Broken Bow, Okla., was crowned the Dickies American Worker of the Year.

This year, the contest will recognize six regional finalists with $5,000 each and one grand prize winner as the Dickies American Worker of the Year, with an award of $100,000. All winners will be announced on Labor Day (Sept. 6, 2010).

The Dickies brand has a strong and proud heritage of providing tough, quality clothing to American workers for more than 87 years. Over that time, the company has grown from the U.S. Bib Overall Company in 1922 to the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company. From overalls to World War II U.S. military uniforms to its iconic Original 874 work pant and much more, Dickies is the global leader in innovative work apparel while also meeting consumer needs for quality after work clothing at a great value. The Dickies portfolio of apparel includes men's and women's work pants, shorts, shirts, denim, outerwear, school wear and an extensive licensing program, all backed by a lifetime guarantee. The company operates through subsidiaries in North America, Canada and Europe as well as exclusive distributorship around the world.
