The Ohio-based national women's specialty apparel retailer, Dots, received the 2010 Interior Design of the Year Award from the Northern Ohio Chapter of the NAIOP. The retailer's corporate campus was recognized in May as the recipient of the coveted award. The annual NAIOP program highlights the best projects, real estate transactions and individual performance during the previous year in the commercial real estate industry in Northern Ohio. The award was presented to Dots' design firm, Vocon.

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, is the leading organization for developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial and mixed-use real estate. The award program recognizes over 300 of the area's top commercial real estate professionals and acknowledges design, development and marketing successes in developments completed in the local communities.

"We are ecstatic to have the Dots team recognized with this distinguished honor," said Robert Glick, Dots Chairman and CEO. "Our management team envisioned a unique culture that was built on the idea of creating a west coast lifestyle. Through careful study and planning, our design team molded an environment that is clearly reflective of our organization's distinctive personality – an every day fashion party. By combining forces of creativity and construction, the end result is a cutting edge fashion facility," said Glick.

The award winning, state-of-the-art facility, located in Glenwillow's Emerald Valley Industrial Park, encompasses 192,000 square feet of office space and an innovative distribution center. Dots collaborated with Vocon and developer Premier Builders to create an atmosphere that embraces Dots' "fashion party" culture.

The company is recognized throughout the retail world for its affordable, fresh fashion along with a fun, friendly shopping experience. When contemplating a design for its new corporate headquarters, the company sought to achieve an atmosphere that inspired creativity and collaboration for its distinctive brand identity, culture and reputation.

The Dots' Management Team, which is lead by President Rick Bunka; Vocon and a team of designers identified a number of key features necessary to achieve the design objective for the new offices. This included incorporating fashion, style and branding of its retail stores in to the corporate office environment. The design utilized an abundance of natural light, while maintaining a collaborative workspace with a variety of formal and informal meeting spaces.

Now, complete with a stylish, urban-inspired space accented by large amounts of daylight and numerous collaborative spaces, Dots headquarters includes a coffee bar, cafe, Wii area, indoor running track and an outdoor patio and grill. The interior scheme highlights the company's signature feminine color – pink. This signature color and symbol is seen throughout the Dots space, includingthe focal-point tunnel – reminiscent of a fashion runway – that runs from the reception area to the building's core.

Dots is a fashion apparel store that offers fashion trends at exceptional prices, while providing the latest runway trends interpreted for everyday-wear. Dots' growth and success was founded on a passion for retail that stems from a belief that it doesn't cost a lot to look great! Today, the company is a vibrant, growing retailer with more than 400 stores within a 26 state radius.
