During the first five months of 2010, US imports of textiles and clothing rose 15.6 percent in volume and 7.91 percent in value, when compared with the same period of last year.
Imports of textiles and clothing touched 20.69 sq. meters by volume and reached US $33.30 billion by value.
Of this, imports of garments totaled to 8.84 billion sq. meters by volume, a growth of 13.19 percent and value stood at $25.11 billion, up 5.79 percent.
Imports from China, alone touched 8.84 billion sq. meters by volume, up 22.54 percent and rose by 14.42 percent in value to reach $12.26 billion in the same period.
