Levis Strauss may consider hiking prices

At a recent launch of a new denim range for women, Levi Strauss India, Marketing Director, Shumone Chatterjee said that the brand may consider hiking its product prices if cotton prices continue to surge.

He said, “Cotton prices and in turn production costs are going up, due to which we may have to go in for a price revision, but at any stage we will not make compromises on the quality of the product range”.

Levi's launched a new line of custom fit jeans, Levi's Curve ID, made to fit the curve of a woman's body. At a press conference, the brand showcased the Levi's Curve ID fit system as part of the India leg of the global launch.

John Anderson, President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co said, “India is one of the top 18 focused markets for Levis and it will be among the top 10 ten markets in the next five years, since it is one of the fastest growing market for us”.

Commenting on the Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) initiative launched by the company last year, Anderson said that it is an innovative scheme, launched especially for the Indian market and since it is doing very well, they will continue it.
