The garment industry investors of South Korea are much interested to leave behind higher labour costs in China, but, lack of information, is impeding their plans to establish garment units in the country, informed the officials visiting Phnom Penh.

As per the leader of the Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFTI), Mr. Gue-bae Yeoum, investors need to have more knowledge about government policies. Cambodia is placed well in a bid to attract Korean investors, due to higher labour costs in China.

But, the government of Cambodia doesn't take steps to promote Korean industry. Hence, a number of companies in Korea are not much aware of the local policies and hence, scared to make investments there, said Mr. Yeoum.

While, the Ministry of Commerce Secretary of State, Mr. Ok Boung informed that the country has taken loads of efforts to promote the industry and its information is already available and that the potential investors can get the information about the sector through their embassies.
