Dots, the national fashion specialty apparel retailer's corporate campus will be recognized on October 1st as the recipient of the AIA Ohio Design Award from the Ohio Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The Program recognizes the best in Ohio Architecture. This is the first time the AIA Ohio has awarded an organization for interior design.

The AIA Ohio Design Awards Program promotes projects that have distinguished themselves, through attention to high quality design, performance, and commitment to AIA's 10 principles of livable communities. Dots will be recognized along with Denison University, Oberlin College, Wright State University and the Emaar Healthcare Group, to name just a few.

The award-winning, state-of-the-art facility is tucked away in Glenwillow's Emerald Valley Industrial park, and spans 192,000 square feet of office space and innovative distribution center. Dots collaborated with Cleveland-based Vocon and a local developer, Premier Builders, to create an atmosphere that embraces Dots' "fashion party" culture.

"I am extremely delighted our facility was recognized for its innovative design and architecture," said Robert Glick, Dots Chairman and CEO. "This prominent award acknowledges not only the creativity that went in to the design but also highlights the outcome of this project – which is an environment that is clearly reflective of our organization's distinctive personality. Our management team envisioned a unique culture that was built on the idea of creating a west coast lifestyle and a cutting-edge fashion facility. Vocon embraced our overall concept and took the campus from blueprint to reality," said Glick.

"When we contemplated the design for our new corporate headquarters, we embarked on a new frontier of interior design. It was a brand new concept for a corporate campus to offer an inspiring and creative atmosphere, all the while offering amenities such as free breakfast, Nintendo Wii gaming center, indoor and outdoor walking tracks, among many other conveniences," said Glick.

Now, complete with a stylish, urban-inspired space accented by large amounts of daylight and numerous collaborative spaces, Dots headquarters includes a coffee bar, café, indoor basketball court and an outdoor patio and grill. The interior scheme highlights the company's signature feminine color – pink. This signature color and symbol is seen throughout the Dots space, including the focal-point tunnel – reminiscent of a fashion runway – that runs from the reception area to the building's core.

Glick added, "We lead in fashion trend, and it's no surprise we are the trend leader with our corporate campus. From open collaboration areas, to uniquely Dots' design touches, such as disco balls in the bathrooms, we changed the paradigm of office campus design and employee activities."
