RMG wage structure gets final nod

The Wage Board on October 9 approved the revised draft of the new wage structure for RMG workers without any modifications.
The new wage structure will become effective from November 1. The minimum wage for new workers has been raised from previous Tk 1,662.50 to Tk 3,000.
No changes have been made in the grade salary in the new draft wage structure, which the Wage Board approved.
The Board received about 365 objections and suggestions from the workers as well as the employers against the new draft salary structure for RMG workers. The workers, while refusing to accept Tk 3,000 as minimum wage, presented 22 recommendations with a demand to hike grade VI, V and IV wages.
However, the Board stated that, though it considered this objections and suggestions, it was not feasible to implement such changes in view of the employer's objections.
