Women's wear brand 'W' planning global expansion

TCNS Clothing Company based in Delhi, which owns the ladies wear brand 'W', recently revealed that it is surveying the possibilities of launching the brand in international markets and is also considering expansion of its retail operations within the country.
The company, as a part of its domestic expansion, intends to launch 100 exclusive outlets of the brand in various cities of the country including the tier II and tier III cities by March 2012.
Further, the company is also exploring foreign markets like that of the Middle East and South East Asian countries and the UK where the brand is supposed to meet with good response.
The plan for expansion in the foreign markets is in initial phase as the company is considering various aspects like the prospects of the markets abroad, their magnitude, seasonality and the partnership models. The firm thus intends to involve in the global venture in FY12.
'W', the apparel and accessories range that hit the markets some eight years back, now is being vended at 60 exclusive outlets in 25 cities and 500 other retail outlets including shop-in-shops across India.
Around 50 percent of the 60 exclusive outlets are possessed by the firm whereas the rest of them are franchisee outlets. But, the company intends to boost its focus on franchisee outlets in times to come, as the company would own only 20 percent of the 100 outlets that it intends to launch by 2012.
