Nike, a US based sportswear manufacturing brand, announced that it has extended its deal for sponsoring Indian National Cricket Team's uniform, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for next five years.

The sportswear firm would remain to be official kit supplier for Team India for next five years.

Though, details regarding the deal size were not revealed, the deal is believed to have been closed at around Rs. 2.7 billion.

Nike's previous two billion rupees deal with BCCI, for sponsoring Team India uniforms for five years ended in December 2010, but in consideration of the Cricket World Cup the same was extended for three months, till March 2011.

Nike had a first right to reject the proposal.

However, Nike India Managing Director Tarun Puri while commenting on extension of the deal said that, extension of their apparel sponsorship deal with the BCCI is an attestation of the firm's support to provide the BCCI and Team India with most innovative products.
