Textile ministry officials visit ATDC centre to review ISDS

Puneet Aggarwal, joint secretary and Keshav Kumar, director, both in the union ministry of textiles paid a visit to the Okhla hub of India's largest vocational training provider for the apparel sector. The senior officials visited the centre to review the updated status of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) under implementation by ATDC.

Both the officials visited the sewing labs as well as had a look at the state-of-the-art machinery installed at ATDC, to make sure all the laid out standards are being fulfilled.

The Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) from ATDC offers 11 different courses for students like sewing machine operator, embroidery machine operator, apparel finisher, etc.

Under the ISDS program, ATDC provides 300 hours of training in order to address the requirements of the apparel and downstream segments of the textile industry.

As of date, ATDC has trained about 200,000 candidates under ISDS, with training of about 48,000 candidates to be completed by March-April 2017. (AR)
