CII Business delegation to Bogota

In an exclusive 45 minutes meeting with the visiting CII Buisness delegation to Bogota, H.E. Mr. Alvaro Uribe Velez, President of Colombia, conveyed to the Indian business leaders that Colombia wants to tighten its ties with India and needs Indian investment in Colombia.
"Colombia needs the presence of Indian companies and its doors are open for Indian companies". The CII delegation, led by Mr Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director, Kirloskar Brother's Limited, covered such diverse sectors as IT, Pharma, Engineering products, Oil and Gas and Logistics.
The President met the delegation in his office and present from the Colombian side were the Minister for Commerce, Colombia and the Vice Minister of Foreigh Affairs of Colombia.
President Uribe infomed the delegation members that his government had three main objectives for business growth in Colombia, Consolidate Security, Consolidate investor confidence and meeting the millenium goals.
The President said that Colombia, as a member of the ANDEAN comunity had trade agreements with ANDEAN and the Mercosur countries, with Chile and Peru and was keenly looking forward to having a Bilateral Agreement for Investments betwen India and Colombia.
The President futher explained to the business leaders the various incentives that his government offers to companies investing in Colombia, especialy when the production unit is set up in the SEZ.
President Uribe further remarked that a company set up in the SEZ will have to pay corporate tax of 15% however there will be no tax on dividends. President said that in order to encourage trade and investments betwen Colombia and India, his government assures gaurantee for payment of any large scale investment into the Country.
