Hand-woven carpet export climb up

Export of Iranian hand-woven carpets has experienced a growth of 4.2 percent in the first three months of Iranian calendar year (March 21 – June 21), said the Director of National Carpet Centre.
As per Customs Administration's statistics, during last spring there was an export of $73 million worth of carpets, which has reached to $76 million during this spring. In the whole year of 2008, export of these carpets stood at $420 million.
This increase in carpets exports is the result of search of new markets search and production of goods by identifying market requirements. Countries such as Russia, China, Hong Kong and Lebanon are the new export destinations of Iranian hand-woven carpets.
Recently, these carpets are experiencing a fierce competition from the countries producing duplicates as well as cheaper substitutes of the original Iranian carpets.
