The Ethiopian Leather Industries Association (ELIA) intends to attain an almost 100 percent rise in its revenues during the current fiscal.
The Association has targeted to achieve US$ 206 million in revenues from leather and leather product exports during the ongoing fiscal year.
The revenue is expected to mainly flow from the export of finished and semi-finished leather items.
The revenue target of US$ 206 million pegged for the current fiscal year is almost double the last fiscal's earnings of US$ 104 million. Last fiscal's earnings too showed an 85 percent rise over previous fiscal's earnings.
Founded in 1994 as the Ethiopian Tanners Association, ELIA today includes the major manufacturers and exporters of footwear, leather garments and goods and tanners in Ethiopia. ELIA works towards transforming Ethiopia's leather and leather product manufacturers into major global players based on innovation and competitiveness.
