Children's shoes detained at British port

1 min read

Number of children shoes made in Wenzhou city exported to the EU were detected containing carcinogenic substances like naphthalene.

At present, the goods were detained by the British Customs in the port. These children shoes will be sent back or destroyed.

Wenzhou city's Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded export enterprises, to pay attention to naphthalene content of the products.

The EU in 2005 issued an order to limit naphthalene content of tires and add oil, but they have not set any limit for naphthalene content of shoes.

So Wenzhou city's Inspection and Quarantine Bureau wants the shoes and clothing enterprises to know the specific limits of naphthalene in the importing countries to prevent goods from being detained.
