In order to promote traditional designs of Chakma community, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), has organized a month-long exhibition of clothes suitable for rainy season at Nogordola, a house of handicrafts and handloom textiles, at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
A three-day free mehedi festival, held in collaboration with Mumtaz's Herbal, was also held at the same venue. Women activist Maleka Begum inaugurated the exhibition.
Other dignitaries who attended the event were Md Ziauddin, General Secretary of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Pervin Ahmed, Vice-President of Women for Women and Chandra Shekhar Shaha, Consultant for design and product development.
Around 16 patterns from ALAM, traditional textile designs of Chakma community, were showcased in the rainy season collection.
Kazi Rafiqul Islam, President of DAM, hoped that people would appreciate these designs which are a blend of traditional and contemporary ones.
