Upon completion of an investigation into the alleged dumping of cloth-upper shoes made by Vietnam and China, the National Institute for the Defence of Competition and Intellectual Property (Indecopi) has announced that no anti-dumping duty will be imposed on the shoes originating from these two countries.
The investigation was carried out following a petition by the Leather, Shoe Industry and Related Components Corporation (CCCA) which stated that cloth-upper shoes from Vietnam and China were being dumped on the market.
However, the investigation revealed that CCCA failed to prove that imports of cloth-upper shoes from Vietnam and China are causing damages to Peru's cloth-upper shoes producing sector.
CCCA is not happy with Indecopi's verdict and is planning to file a lawsuit in court.
The result of the probe will benefit Vietnamese exporters, who can continue to sell their goods in the Peruvian markets.
