The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mission on Knowledge and Skills announced the launch of Global Enterprise Product Support (CII-GEPS) Forum, a body to spearhead India's transition to a preferred destination for global enterprise-level product support services.
The forum has been formed by seven leading companies, namely Avaya, CA, EMC, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Yahoo, in collaboration with CII. Mr. Phil Verghis, head of Verghis Group Inc is the advisor to CII-GEPS Forum.
The launch of the CII-GEPS forum was followed by the release of an IDC study on 'Establishing India's Leadership Role in Enterprise Product Support – An IDC and CII-GEPS Study.'
Delivering the keynote address at the launch, Mr. Ashok Soota, Chairman, the CII Mission on Knowledge & Skills, said, “India's transition into a knowledge-based economy is well underway given the availability of experienced talent and robust educational infrastructure.
Effective knowledge management is the key for India to become a knowledge superpower. India needs to exploit this capability domestically and help the country leapfrog onto the world stage. The CII-GEPS Forum is one such platform to help realize this Vision for India.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M N Vidyashankar, Secretary, Information Technology & Bio Technology, Government of Karnataka, said, “This is a first-of-its-kind initiative that positions India as the global destination for enterprise product support services.
