Qingdao Customs confiscates fake brands set for exports

An inspection made by Qingdao Customs on 14 cases of goods which were to be exported abroad revealed that over 100 pairs of footwear having tags of famous brands like Nike, Puma, UGG and others, were fake.

This proves that a large number of illegal dealers have been into the business of exporting fake brand products like sports shoes and watches to foreign countries. More than 1500 pieces of counterfeit merchandizes have already been seized and the investigation is still under process.

Experts observed that while trading illegally, dealers manage to hide their identity and if the goods are seized it is not a heavy loss for them. On the contrary, if the products pass unchecked sellers can earn over 1000 yuan a pair.

This can be explained factually since a pair of Nike shoes cost around 2000 yuan while the fake ones sell at only about 200 yuan. So if these footwear products are allowed to cross the border, dealers can earn a hefty sum.
