Alibaba in strategic tie up with Infomedia - India

The name Alibaba.com is the most prominent name in today's virtual world. In order to expand its horizons, the world's premier B2B e-commerce Company, is tying-up with another major, Infomedia India Limited, India's largest media company with strong market presence in diverse business areas.

The multi-year strategic partnership is designed to provide Indian SMEs with a one-stop solution for global and domestic trade.

Together, Alibaba.com and Infomedia, intend to create a powerful online community for Indian business people, and cater them with a single cost-effective channel, to promote their products and source, from quality suppliers in India and across the world. It will also provide domestic SMEs with the latest industry news and technical developments in multi-media formats.

In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion, Mr Arthur Chang, Vice President of Global Sales, Alibaba.com, shared his views, regarding this unique affiliation, saying, “We have assessed various opportunities and entry strategies, and we believe leveraging on Infomedia, India's largest B2B media company with a strong SME customer base across the country, is the best way to enter the market and serve our local members. This partnership combines the power of Infomedia's traditional print publishing business and large network of sales offices across India, with Alibaba.com's leading B2B marketplace for global trade. We believe this alliance will help us become the dominant online B2B marketplace in India by the end of 2008.
