COMESA & Zambia sign MoU to prop-up leather industry

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the COMESA Leather and Leather Products Institute (COMESA/LLPI) of Ethiopia and the Zambian Development Agency (ZDA) in order to work in cooperation, to develop the leather industry in COMESA sub region.
The agreement was signed between the Dr. Geremew Debele, the Director of COMESA/LLPI and ZDA Director of Investment Promotion and Privatization Ms. Florence Mumba, who also is the head of the visiting Zambian delegation to Ethiopia. The pact will prove to be helpful to improve the leather production of Zambia.
The COMESA/LLPI has signed such MoUs with the institutes in the countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan Uganda, Zimbabwe and Rwanda. Promoting productivity, competitiveness, trade and regional integration in the leather sub-sector through various activities such as human resource development, investment and trade promotion, research and development are the key objectives of COMESA/LLPI.
