R.G. Barry names Jay Smith to top China sourcing post

Accessories footwear marketer R.G. Barry Corporation has named veteran product development, sourcing and marketing professional Jay Smith its China-based Vice President of Sourcing.

Mr. Smith most recently was a principal with Asian Partners Ltd., a China-based brand consultancy, product development and sourcing firm. During his 25-year career, he has also held executive positions with companies including Blue Ribbon Sports, Ked's, New Balance, Brooks Athletic Shoes, Reebok, L.A. Gear and Voit Sports.

"Jay's background and experience fits perfectly with the needs resulting from the expansion of our operations in China and our move from Hong Kong to the mainland," said Glenn Evans, R.G. Barry Corporation Senior Vice President of Global Operations. "A manager of Jay's quality and background will be critically important as we identify and develop strategic sourcing options in Asia that will maximize our overall performance and long-term profitability."

Smith is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire and holds a graduate degree in marketing from Northwestern University.
