District authorities and the Pollution Control Board (PCB) at Jajmau, Kanpur, raided and shut down four leather producing units for allegedly polluting river Ganga's water.
Despite incessant warning, most of the tannery owners were releasing polluted water in the river.
In addition, these tanneries have also not installed a water treatment plant as directed by the district authorities and PCB officers.
