The Fashion Awards 2016, the inaugural annual fundraiser gala for the British Fashion Council Education Foundation charity, was held on December 5 at the Royal Albert Hall in London and was attended by close to 4,000 people. Business leaders, creative influencers, global brands, fashion icons and designers from across the globe came together to celebrate the fashion industry.
Ralph Lauren accepted the award for outstanding achievement in fashion and Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga was chosen the best international ready-to-wear designer. Craig Green and Simone Rocha bagged the best British menswear and womenswear designer awards, respectively.
Vetements was chosen the international urban luxury brand of the year and Alessandro Michele for Gucci received the honour for the best international accessories designer. Gigi Hadid beat her sister Bella to become the international model of 2016 and brother-sister duo Jaden and Willow Smith bagged the award for new fashion icons.
The Fashion Awards also recognised 32 creative influencers, including photographers, stylists, make-up artists, set designers and agents, for the important work they do behind the scenes of the fashion industry.
Anna Wintour OBE, Carine Roitfeld, Dame Natalie Massenet, David Beckham OBE, Domhnall Gleeson, Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Lara Stone, Marilyn Manson, Mario Testino OBE, Nadja Swarovski, Naomi Campbell, Salma Hayek Pinault, Skepta, Stella Tennant and Tom Ford were some of the people who attended the award ceremony in London.
