EC puts forth plan to boost European fashion industry

On his visit to Spain, the European Commission Vice President and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Antonio Tajani met the representatives of the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME) and Jose Manuel Soria, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain.
 
At the meeting with the leaders of Spanish fashion industry, Mr. Tajani presented a strategy to encourage the leading representatives from the Spanish fashion industry to promote European fashion and to increase the ‘competitiveness’ of the European textile and fashion industry.
 
The European Commissioner spoke on the goals of the strategy – improve training; preventing cases of fraud; promote internationalization and development of creativity and innovation; adaptation of new technologies; protect intellectual property and promote sustainable development, reported modaes.es.
 
In the coming months, Mr. Tajani will present the development plans at the fashion hubs of London, Paris and Milan, and formulate concrete actions to encourage European fashion and high-end fashion.
 
Mr. Tajani met the professional associations of ACME and Fedecon; members of the main distribution companies of Spain—Inditex and Cortefiel; representatives of fashion labels, Delpozo and Pedro del Hierro; and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports; ICEX, and the Community of Madrid.
 
ACME is a professional organization of Spain, founded in 1998, comprising of designers from around the country. The organization currently holds 46 associated fashion design brands of Spain.
