On 11 April 2007 in Tunis, a joint declaration against the so-called “Made in” proposal has been signed by several textile and clothing associations from Europe and from Mediterranean countries.

The “Tunis Declaration” has been presented at the occasion of the seminar “Les enjeux du secteur du textile et de l'habillement dans la zone Pan Euromed” (“The issues at stake for the textile and clothing sector in the Pan Euromed zone”).

AEDT President, Mrs. Betty van Arenthals, declared: “This is a strong message to the national governments which can not be ignored. Several Member States have already expressed their opposition to this proposal. It is now time to put it aside once and for all and to focus on the real important challenges for Europe”
