For the first official appearance of his visit in Beijing, Mr. Giorgio Armani met the students of the prestigious Tsinghua University. Last year the designer started collaboration with this important institution that represents Chinese academic excellence, sponsoring a research program entitled “Research on Fashion and Textile design under a Condition of Globalization”.
During this event on the university campus, a fashion seminar hosted by Vogue China's editor in chief Angelica Cheung, the winners of an internship contest, selected by Giorgio Armani himself, were announced.
Wen Ya and Wang Yilong are the students who will be offered a unique opportunity for an intensive six-month apprenticeship at Giorgio Armani's headquarters in Milan.
During the meeting Mr. Giorgio Armani answered some students' questions alongside Professor Lu Xiaobo, Chancellor of the University and Professor Zang Yingchun – both supervisors of this important research program.
There to witness this unique interaction between Mr. Giorgio Armani and Tsinghua University, were also the Italian Ambassador to China Mr. Attilio Massimo Iannucci, teachers and students of the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, as well as key Chinese and foreign media.
This event demonstrates both Mr. Giorgio Armani's commitment to training emerging talent in Chinese fashion and his emotional and historical associations with China. It was also a great opportunity for Mr. Armani to warm up for the One Night Only in Beijing fashion event.
