United Arrows and Beams enter the ranking from the 20th place. The much selected items and characterized details of products sold at these select shops are more popular amongst the male population than the female who prefer brand names, and not too much in details.
Although the ranking for the year 2005 reveals that Volume retailers outrun the department stores, but as Isetan has climbed up in one year, high-end men's fashion is starting to marinate into the population.
Other department stores are following Isetan's strategy and creating a men's building as they renovate their stores. With such movements and with more and more press attention is given to this segment, perhaps we can hope to see a great change in retailers within the next 5 years.
