Axcel has acquired 55% of the shares in Ball Group, one of Denmark's fastest growing clothing companies. The company counts approx. 100 shops in the Nordic countries and expects to reach DKK 400 million in turnover this year.
Ball Group's current management will continue as co-shareholders. The aim for Axcel is to continue the growth together with the management through expansion in the Nordic region and Northern Europe, e.g. by strengthening Ball Group's network of franchise shops.
Axcel has acquired 55% of the shares in Ball Group. The other 45% remain on the hands of the company's founders, Peter and Anne Marie Nissen and family as well as the current management, who all continue in the company.
Ball Group sells women's fashion clothing through a combination of wholesale, franchise and own shops. The products are marketed under two chain brands: Solo (standard sizes) and Zizzi (DK size 42 and upwards). The company has shown annual growth rates of 30-35% over the past years.
Ball Group's business concept is “Fashionable clothing at reasonable prices”. In order to live up to this, the company must be able to respond quickly to new trends, and this is achieved through 8-10 new collections every year. Ball Group has a broad supplier base in China, India, Turkey, Great Britain etc., and this ensures flexible and speedy delivery as well as competitive prices.
Christian Frigast, Managing Partner, Axcel, says: “We see Ball Group as a very exciting business. The company has developed strongly over the last couple of years, and particularly the brands aimed at the size 42+ segment provide a unique concept. Very few other European suppliers offer the same combination of fashion and large sizes.”
