Khadim plans retail foray

Khadim India Limited has decided to exploit the retail boom and venture into organized segment in India.

Company, famous for footwear collections, is expected to invest around Rs50 crore in next two years for this project. In this financial year alone, Khadims is likely to launch 2-3 stores.

Siddhartha Roy Burman, Managing Director, told the press, "We are planning to set up around four departmental stores every year under the brand 'Egaro' with an investment of Rs12 crore per outlet."

First two stores will come up in Bhowanipore and Howrah of West Bengal, covering 28,000 sq ft and 9,000 sq ft area, respectively.

Roy further informed, "The products at Egaro would have a 50-50 mix of Khadims' private labels and other premium brands like Levis, Pepe, among others."

This retail venture will be part of Company's Rs120 crore two-year expansion plan. Rest of the allotted investment will be used to introduce new footwear range.
