Sundance Catalog opens flagship retail store in Denver

Founded by Robert Redford in 1989 on a mountain in Utah, the Sundance Catalog Company announced the June 22nd opening of the company's flagship retail store at Park Meadows in suburban Denver, Colorado. Noted for its apparel, jewelry and home goods offering, the Salt Lake City-based catalog and internet-retailer counts the Denver location as the first in a planned national expansion, which will include an additional 20 stores over the next 4 years.
Originally housed in the General Store at the legendary Sundance Village resort, and conceived to support what was at the time a fledgling Sundance Film Festival, the Sundance Catalog has a long and rich history. Steeped in the independent spirit and rugged individualism of the Sundance aesthetic, the Catalog has always made it a point to integrate the work of individual artists and artisans and to promote it in an authentic visual and narrative context.
"I couldn't be more pleased that this venture will go beyond residing online and in catalogs and now make a home for itself in communities," said Redford. "That Denver is the first, through this, our flagship Sundance store, is both invigorating and comfortable, a really terrific fit," he added.
Set in a sophisticated and contemporary context, the Denver flagship is emblematic of the kind of environment Sundance retail stores will bring to other communities across the country. In line with the Sundance brand's commitment to supporting an environmental sensibility, the store is constructed with an abundant use of recycled woods and a design approach that combines rusticity with contemporary architecture. Sundance focuses on recycled product in its home furnishing assortments and employs organic cottons in a number of its apparel offerings.
