Lifestyle brand Gant appoints new CEO

Dirk-Jan Stoppelenburg has been appointed CEO of Gant. His most recent position was as Managing Director of Tetra Pak Benelux and he has extensive experience from senior positions in global companies.

Dirk-Jan Stoppelenburg will assume his new position not later than July 1, 2008. Gant's CFO Henrik Fredin will function as acting CEO during the period until the position is filled by Gant's new CEO.

Gant has conducted a comprehensive international recruitment process and has now appointed Dirk-Jan Stoppelenburg as CEO of the company. Dirk-Jan is 40 years old and has worked in the Tetra Pak Group for the past ten years, most recently as Managing Director of Tetra Pak Benelux.

Prior to this, he held the corresponding position for the operation in the Netherlands and Vietnam. He has also been marketing and sales manager for Tetra Pak in Thailand. Dirk-Jan is Dutch, speaks Swedish and has an economics and business studies degree from Lund University.

“With his knowledge and international experience, Dirk-Jan Stoppelenburg was an obvious choice. He will join what is already an extremely solid management team, which was recently strengthened by the addition of Brian Rennie as Design Director, with 20 years of experience from the international fashion market. I am convinced that Dirk-Jan will continue to develop Gant's business model and reinforce Gant as a genuinely global brand at a rapid pace. In brief, Gant's prospects have never been better,' says Lennart Björk, Chairman of the Board of Gant.
