Crocs names Sumit Dhingra new GM for India

Crocs, the casual footwear brand, has named Sumit Dhingra the new general manager for India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Dhingra has over 15 years of experience across apparel and fashion retail sectors. With this vast knowledge, Dhingra was placed among 40 hottest business leaders of India under the age of 40, in 2017 by the Economic Times and Spencer Stuart.

In his new role, Dhingra will be responsible for the next leg of Crocs growth in the region. Currently Crocs operates in the region with 1500+ point of sales across 150 cities via exclusive brand stores and multi brand outlets while servicing over 20,000 pin codes via E-commerce channels including a dedicated brand website.

Nissan Joseph, VP, general manager- South Korea, India and South East Asia, said “Sumit brings along a great in-depth understanding of the Indian retail landscape which should hold Crocs India in good stead as we prepare to accelerate our expansion plans in the country. I am confident that Sumit will be a great addition to the Crocs family and will help the brand scale newer heights in India”.

In his last assignment with Arvind Fashions as CEO for Arrow, Aéropostale and Izod, Dhingra repositioned Arrow and launched Aéropostale successfully. The new positioning platform for Arrow won a silver ABBY at the recent Goa Ad festival. Arrow was also adjudged the “most trusted apparel brand” by Trust Research Advisory’s Brand Trust Report in 2018.

An IIM-Lucknow alumni, Dhingra has been with Arvind Fashions for over a decade helming leadership roles across marquee brands like Arrow, GANT, Nautica, Izod, Calvin Klein and Aéropostale. (SV)
