Australian icon and business woman Elle Macpherson launched Virgin Blue's sophisticated new uniform joined by 60 of Virgin Blue's own pilots and crew for a stylish runway show in Sydney this morning.
Designed exclusively by Australian designer Juli Grbac, the new uniform represents the first step in a series of exciting changes for Virgin Blue in 2011.
Danielle Keighery, Virgin Blue Group Executive of Corporate Communications, said the airline was redefining style in travel with their designer uniforms, enhanced levels of guest service and a new range of products and services still to be revealed.
“Our new uniforms represent the start of an exciting new future for Virgin Blue as we begin to reposition the airline in Australia over the next two years,” Ms Keighery said.
“At Virgin Blue we know that our staff are our greatest asset. Today, our pilots and crew graced the catwalk with Elle Macpherson and they looked absolutely stunning.
“They will continue to be the face of our airline that so many Australians love and now they have a stylish uniform that befits the excellent service they provide.”
The striking red and royal purple uniforms were the inspiration of Project Runway winner Juli Grbac, who was given the job of a lifetime when asked to design the new uniform for Virgin Blue.
“I took inspiration from the glamour of flying in the 1960s and gave it a contemporary edge to fit Virgin Blue's new brand positioning. I worked closely with Virgin Blue to create the ultimate design that would not only look sophisticated and have that wow factor, but be comfortable and of superior quality.
“To have my designs seen by millions of people every year is such an amazing opportunity and it all came to life today,” Ms Grbac said.
The uniform launch was held in Australia's newest and hottest fashion precinct, Westfield Sydney.
