With a blast of a show Friday night, Henrik Vibskov closed this summer's Copenhagen Fashion Week in style, reflecting the overall success of the week with its energized guests, great summer weather, strong collections and a particularly good and pulsating mood.

Strong turnout of press
The fact that Copenhagen Fashion Week SS12 turned out such a success was quite vital as the perhaps most influential turnout of press ever were guesting the city: American, British, Italian and Spanish Vogue were in town, and so were W Magazine, V Magazine, Love Magazine, Fantastic Man, German Glamour, Swedish Elle and Women's Wear Daily.

The show venues have now been cleared, the trade fairs are closed, the international guests have left and the fashion companies have returned to business as usual. So now it's time to take stock of a fashion week that qualitatively appears to be best and strongest fashion week ever.

The trade fairs: Less visitors, but more sales
The five trade fairs - CIFF, CPH Vision, Terminal-2, Gallery and CPH Kids - have now released their visitor numbers. In total, 57.970 guests have visited the trade fairs, which means an overall decrease by 6 pct. compared to August 2010. The decline is most likely caused by the fact that the fashion week this year was a week earlier than normal, which has coincided with vacation time. That, however, does not mean that the exhibitors have experienced less activity, smaller orders or fewer new customers. In fact, the opposite seems to be the case.

Ole Brock Lauritzen, CEO of Tusnelda Bloch, who exhibited at Terminal-2, says: "We experienced a pick-up of 40-50 pct. of orders placed at our booth in comparison with last summer, which primarily is due to an increase of foreign customers, so we are very satisfied this time. In general, the atmosphere was more optimistic than last year, and the word 'crisis' was not mentioned once."

DAY Birger et Mikkelsen who exhibited at Gallery also reports positively abou t the week: "We had some great days at the trade fair where all of our three booths were filled up with customers constantly. We experienced a huge pick-up of visitors at our "2nd DAY" booth compared to August 2010, and at our Men's and Women's booths we had more customers from abroad than usual," says Keld Mikkelsen, owner of DAY Birger et Mikkelsen.

There can be no doubt: Copenhagen Fashion Week is still the Nordic region's biggest and most important fashion event, and Copenhagen has truly lived up to its reputation as the Fashion Capital of Scandinavia.
