Scoop International the contemporary designer fashion show, staged at the Saatchi Gallery on 12-14 February, attracted top buyers from leading retail stores.

Premium retailers visited the show including; Harrods, Matches, Browns, Fenwick, Fortnum & Mason, Liberty, House of Fraser, Urban Outfitters, Harvey Nichols, Net-A-Porter and ASOS, to view more than 180 of the industry's best directional and contemporary womenswear collections.

Pamela Shiffer, owner of Pamela Shiffer boutique in Primrose Hill, is among the retailers impressed with this season's show. “I've visited previous editions of Scoop and it always exceeds my expectations,” she says. “For me, the show represents exactly what my customers are looking for. It's well edited and innovative.”

John William Reed, from The Garment Quarter in Bristol, agrees. “Scoop is such a unique concept, and it offers something different to other trade shows,” he says. “I came to Scoop looking for new accessories collections for my boutique and I'm really impressed with the labels on show, many of which I haven't seen anywhere else. It's great for finding new designers, and I will definitely be back next season to source more brands.”

The event showcased labels including; Jucca, Bella Freud, 2nd Day, Spijkers en Spijkers, Patrizia Pepe, Plein Sud, Orla Kiely, Lavenham, Robert Clergerie, Black Orange Vintage, Hartford, Bottletop, Bastyan, Marithé + François Girbaud, Vivienne Westwood, Hache, and many more.

A significant number of brands chose Scoop as a launch pad into the UK market. Elin Mohlander, from Filippa K, is among the exhibitors who were overwhelmed by the success of the show. “Scoop has helped generate a lot of interest and new business from the UK, and I've met several key buyers from well known stores,” she added. “I'm so impressed with the show, I'll be back in July.”

As the door closes on a record season, Scoop founder Karen Radley says, “To see the visitor attendance double this season and such an increase in exhibitors at Scoop, quite honestly proves how important this show now is within the international fashion calendar. The success of this season's edition has established Scoop as a key buying destination for the UK's leading retail stores and a key sourcing ground for directional and contemporary womenswear apparel labels.”

The spring/summer 2013 edition of Scoop will take place at the Saatchi Gallery on 8-10 July 2012, and will now sit outside of the prolonged period of disruption due to be caused by the 2012 London Olympics in July and August. This new early date also brings Scoop in line with other key shows on the international fashion calendar.
