Pioneering an initiative to showcase the best of Indian Fashion industry and share runway space with leading international fashion labels, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is happy to partner and present the unique Indo-Dutch Fashion collaboration.

Fashion Design Council of India: A not for profit organisation FDCI is the apex fashion council of India. Represented by over 300 designers, FDCI takes Indian fashion global by promoting the 'business of fashion'.

As commissioned by the Dutch government, The DUTCH FASHION HERE & NOW INDIA (DFH&NI) program is initiated to bridge continents by providing a platform for knowledge exchange, inspiration, network and opportunity development for both the Indian and Dutch fashion communities.

The 3-year-program provides a follow-up to conclusions made in a Fashion Mapping report on India, written in 2009 by Ms Harmeet Bajaj, official brand ambassador of DFH&NI.

The FDCI foundation, HTNK Fashion recruitment & consultancy foundation, House of Denim and Ms Harmeet Bajaj joined forces to initiate the DUTCH FASHION HERE & NOW INDIA program featuring unique collaborations between top professionals from the Dutch and Indian Fashion Industry with on the catwalk Suneet Varma & Jan Taminiau, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna & *DIED*.

Supported by FDCI, the project saw more teeth and as As Sunil Sethi president of FDCI puts it: “The DUTCH FASHION HERE & NOW INDIA program boasts a unique 3 year partnership that takes existing ties –mainly in apparel production- between the countries to the next level creating opportunities for both Indian and Dutch fashion entrepreneurs.”

Ms Marielle van Miltenburg – Head of Political Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands said, “We are happy to establish collaboration between Dutch and Indian fashion via the Dutch Fashion Here & Now India program.

Holland’s creative industry is in the top ten of the world. We have discovered a lot of avenues to share knowledge, expertise and business with the Indianfashion industry during the India Mapping initiative which comes to life via this program and the Dutch Design Workspace we have recently established in Mumbai.”

The DUTCH FASHION HERE & NOW program travelled to China in 2010. With India as its next destination, the program will travel onwards to Turkey in 2012. Hence giving the program a cultural relevance besides the obvious fashion angle.
