Inspired by this year’s theme of “Dragons and Butterflies”, 31 worldwide finalists took their unique pieces to the catwalk and revealed their amazing designs to a high calibre audience; from international and Chinese media to opinion leaders, buyers and world-renowned celebrities.
The adored MTV China VJ duo – Andy Chen and the beautiful Zhu Zhu – presented the prestigious award and showcased the mysterious world of Dragons & Butterflies through this awe-inspiring fashion show.
The contestants’ inspiring designs were judged and revealed by an exclusive jury of fashion elite: Chinese actress and singer Karen Mok, designer Uma Wang, internationally renowned photographer Wing Shya, Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, Chinese model Bonnie Chen and fashion designer Matthew Williamson.

The respected Franca Sozzani, Vogue Italia’s editor-in-chief and the head of this year’s jury reflects, “It was a very challenging decision for all of us. All of these fantastic, wonderful creations that made it to the international final of this unique award were rich in inspiration and show real evidence of the high quality design and execution that is out there. Sian Whitefoot - this outstanding young talent from the United Kingdom finally convinced us that her design exceeded every criteria.”
Sian Whitefoot enrolled in Demontfort University, was overwhelmed when Chinese topmodel Bonnie Chen presented her design on the catwalk: “I am speechless. It’s a dream come true! The months leading up to the event have been so fantastic, I have learnt enormously. And the last few days here in Shanghai with the other finalists were so intense and an incredibly unique experience for me. I’d like to thank Triumph and the jury who gave us this amazing platform to showcase our ideas and inspirations.”
Besides an astounding cash prize, every year Triumph honours the winner with the opportunity to develop his/her showcase piece into a commercial lingerie garment which is sold in Triumph stores worldwide.
