London-based Georgia Hardinge partners with River Island

Paris-trained and London-based fashion designer Georgia Hardinge has collaborated with the UK’s high-street fashion chain River Island to design an exclusive spring/summer 2013 collection.

The collaboration is a part of the label’s Design Forum initiative, which gives up and coming designers an opportunity to showcase their collections before a much wider audience, according to vogue.co.uk.

Inspired by the works of Swiss surrealist painter, sculptor and set designer HR Giger, the 14-piece capsule range would include dramatic gowns, printed neoprene dresses and sleek maxi skirts with matching tops.

Expected to hit the stores from March 2013 onwards, the Georgia Hardinge for River Island collection will be launched with a short film directed by London’s Alex Turvey at the forthcoming London Fashion Week’s Fash/On Film series.

Known for her liberal use of soft and feminine fabrics along with structural textured shapes, Hardinge’s designs are being favoured by the likes of Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Florence Welch.

Set up in 1948, River Island is a private company that operates in a number of countries across the world.
