Michael Kors, the label by New York-based fashion designer Michael Kors, is the world’s most sought after US apparel and accessories brand on Internet, according to a report “The World Luxury Index American Fashion” released by Digital Luxury Group.

The analysis found that 19.6 percent of over 31 million Internet searches in January to June 2012 were for Michael Kors. The searches were from 35 countries including Brazil, China, France, India, Japan, Russia, the UK and the US.

The report attributes Kors’ becoming the top online searched fashion brand to its marketing activity that reaches the right consumers. Secondly, a lower-priced line launched by the label was able to successfully appeal to a wider range of people. The brand’s popularity in the US also contributed to Kors’ success.

Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren bagged second and third places in the survey. Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson and Tom Ford also found a place among the top ten popular American apparel and accessories brands on Internet.

Founded in 1981, Michael Kors is a luxury lifestyle brand designer and retailer of accessories and apparel. Kors' products are sold through company-operated retail stores and department stores primarily in North America but also through a growing number of international locations.

Digital Luxury Group provides luxury industry market intelligence, such as the World Luxury Index and World Watch Report, and creates and implements digital marketing and communication strategies for luxury brands. With headquarters in Geneva, the company has offices in New York and Shanghai.
