Designer Sue Wong unveils The Great Gatsby inspired line
Apr '13
SUE WONG, fashion’s grand diva designer of Hollywood glamour, recently launched her “The Great Gatsby”-inspired fall 2013 Collection with a rollicking Jazz Age soiree at her palatial home The Cedars. The season’s social highlight drew a cavalcade of leading celebrities and artists as well as entertainment and fashion industry insiders to celebrate Sue’s glittering array of evening dresses designed to reflect the effervescent exuberance of the Roaring Twenties.

In attendance were: famed enlightenment artist Master Romio Shrestha, Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh Grammer (Frazier, Cheers), Erin Cahill (ABC’s “Red Widow”), actress Alex Lombard (Inception), casts from Bravo’s various “Real Housewives” reality shows and “Shahs of Sunset”, among many other actresses, models and socialites. Renowned Israeli opera singer Michael Peer serenaded Sue and her guests.

Amidst the festivities, everyone raved over the showing of the fall 2013 Collection, resplendent against the backdrop of the majestic Old Hollywood interiors of The Cedars. Sue’s latest designs brought to life the flirtatious Flapper in dresses with fringed skirts, while Art Deco motifs sparkled in dramatic column gowns with richly beaded metallic details. Classic silhouettes were accented by playful and elegant embroidery, appliqué, animal prints and shimmering hand beading. The ravishing pieces were awash in gemstone hues of sapphire, jade, citrine and carnelian. The evening’s sponsors included Hint Water, Hula Girl beverages, Mud Make-up Designory and Trust Salon. In keeping with the evening’s theme, the guests were also dressed in their best 1920’s finery to commemorate the new collection and bring to life the iconic styles of the gilded age.

For over two decades Sue Wong has been astonishing fashion aficionados with collection after collection of ravishing dresses that prove both timeless and timely. Distinguished by the impeccable quality of traditional couture dress making, her designs are suffused with Old Hollywood glamour, steeped in romance and mystery while being utterly modern and accessible to women everywhere. Sue continues to forge new ground in defining fashion that transcends generations and boundaries even as she creates masterpieces of passion and desire expressed through inimitable style. Sue Wong is available from $229 to $829 nationwide at specialty boutiques, major department stores including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and internationally in over 27 countries.
