Elisabetta Franchi new campaign captures intimate liaison

An erotic ambience, warmed by a surreal, essential light, just like in Edward Hopper’s paintings: a precious homage to Helmut Newton and his strong, almost masculine women and to their ambiguous yet sophisticated interaction.

Woman to (Wo)man: the new Elisabetta Franchi FW 2013-14 adv campaign images were shot in the prestigious Pier 59 Studios in Chelsea, New York, by Camilla Åkrans. The images play with different shades of light that dialogue with the restless, magnetically sex-appealing models.

The shots capture an intimate, secret and borderline liaison, in a minimal chic ambience that resonates with the collection’s sober opulence: the extreme care for details, the sculpted silhouettes, the evident details highlight the elegant fabrics and the maison’s fall winter 2013 colour palette.

Michelle Buswell and Anais Pouliot are the faces of this campaign, which takes inspiration from Helmut Newton’s iconic shots: the two models embody the feminine and androgynous souls that merge in Elisabetta Franchi’s collection to languidly and voluptuously become one. The reflections on the background conjure a suspended, sophisticated, absolutely unique atmosphere that can reverberate the sensuality of the images.

Michelle Buswell was born in Florida and her popularity came with the 2002 Vogue cover by Steven Meisel, followed by other covers for Elle, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro and international adv campaigns for countless maisons – Versace, Tommy Hilfigher, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prada – as well as a page on the 2005 Pirelli calendar by Patrick Demarchellier.

Anais Pouliot is a very young Canadian model, already the face of See by Chloe’ and Louis Vuitton. She appeared on the covers of many international magazines – Elle and Vogue to name two – after treading the most important international fashion runways – including Chanel, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior and Cavalli.

Elisabetta Franchi’s precious interplay was perfectly immortalised in her images by Camilla Åkrans, a Swedish photographer in her thirties who has already put her name next to the brand’s SS 2013 collection and who besides working for several international fashion magazines – Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro to mention a few – was also the author of several adv campaigns for famous maisons – Blumarine, Diane von Fustenberg, Eres and True Religion, among others.
