The Nigerian fashion and textile industry will once again grab the spotlight at the upcoming edition of Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW), slated to take place from October 23 to 26, 2013.

Due to be held in the Nigerian capital city of Lagos, the event will feature fresh runway collections, created by the seasoned and up-and-coming designers of the African country.

Expected to be attended by buyers, consumers and the media, the soiree will highlight designs from labels like Josh Samuels, Sholly Jay, Ella and Gabby, Sunny Rose and Orange Culture.

Nigerian womenswear brand Wana Sambo will showcase its latest Spring/Summer-2013/14 ready-to-wear range ‘The Voyage of Mademoiselle Adanna’, which includes dresses, skirts, pants, anoraks and tops, at the prestigious do.

In addition to catwalks shows, the event will also host award presentation ceremonies, giving away titles like LFDW Young Designer of The Year Award and LFDW International Fashion Entrepreneur of The Year Award.

Additionally, the fashion week schedule will include an exhibition-cum-sales space, offering fashion products, textiles and accessories from local manufacturers.

Also, workshops and master classes, facilitating networking opportunities, as well as talks with key Nigerian and international fashion industry players will be hosted on the sidelines of the event.

Guaranty Trust Bank Lagos Fashion and Design Week (GTBank LFDW) is a platform that has succeeded in repositioning fashion as a useful tool for commerce and creativity in Nigeria, beyond the traditional glitz and glamour associated with it.
