Joe Fresh features Asia-inspired range at Toronto FW day 3
Oct '13
Asian designs dominated the affordable apparel brand Joe Fresh’s latest Spring/Summer-2014 catwalk collection, displayed on the third day of ongoing World MasterCard Fashion Week Toronto.
The label’s creative director Joe Mimran featured elegant evening and casual wear pieces in eye popping hues of bright red, navy blue and pink. Made from croc leather, silk twill and lacquered lace, the line was amply decorated with floral designs. The ensembles included pyjama-style suits, pagoda motif T-shirts, zebra print trenches, button-down blouses, varsity jackets, slim fit trousers, denim jumpers with frayed edges and moto-style skirts.
Outerwear label Mackage, owned by Montreal-based designer duo Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, presented a heavy on quilted herringbone, twill and organza collection. Replete with shimmering metallics and crackle prints, the line included classic biker, bomber and varsity-style jackets. The range also featured distressed twill khaki jackets and shorts for men and wrap skirts for women.
Canadian born and Milan-trained designer Matthew Gallagher featured a beach-worthy upscale range. Inspired from the sun-kissed summers of southern Italy, the line was based in a vibrant palette of coral, blue and cream shades. A classy combination of effortless elegance and a relaxed attitude, the luxurious collection offered draped jumpsuits, sleek bodycons, long sleeved dresses, textured floral jackets, pleated minis and pieces with perky patterns and plunging necklines.
Milan’s Istituto Marangoni trained fashion designer Christopher Bates drew inspiration from the nautical lifestyles of places like Monaco, St. Tropez, Nice and the French and Italian Riviera for his latest runway presentation. The Toronto-based designer’s new menswear line showcased both formal and casual attires. Tagged as Riviera, the workwear range included slim-fit sleek tuxedo jackets and sharply tailored blazers. The casualwear pieces included suspender shorts, check shirts, double-toned sweaters, distressed denims, camouflage print pants and pinstriped shorts.
