Uniqlo to launch womenswear with Carine Roitfeld

Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo is set to launch a new innovative, high-quality and comfortable women’s clothing collection in collaboration with former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld.
The 40-piece innerwear and outerwear range will be created based on the CR Fashion Book founder-cum-editor-in-chief’s long experience of working in close association with numerous designers who are responsible for bringing new styles to the industry.
Due to be available for purchase at the clothier’s flagships and online by the end of October, 2015, the affordable Uniqlo LifeWear line will be developed under the guidance of brand design director, Naoki Takizawa.
Expressing her enthusiasm on the fashion venture, Roitfeld revealed in a press release, “I feel joy at creating new mode expressions. I am constantly asking myself what these are, and creating new clothing within the Uniqlo LifeWear concept is a great challenge.”
“I started from the idea of clothes that I would want to wear myself, and developed this into clothes that anyone would want to wear, a woman’s ideal of clothes that make her feel transformed when she wears them,” the global fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar further talked about her designs.
Speaking no the new partnership, Takizawa said, “Carine goes to see collections all around the world, and the visuals that emerge from this relentless pursuit of leading edge fashion have had a tremendous influence on the fashion industry. The clothing depicted in these fresh and innovative visuals, produced with the fashion world’s most influential creators, seems somehow triumphant. I believe that a new type of LifeWear will be created through her work."
Brand chairman, president and CEO, Tadashi Yanai, adds, “Ms. Roitfeld is a charismatic fashion editor and influential figure in the fashion world, and we are extremely happy to present this collection with her as our collaborative partner. Uniqlo’s aim is to create everyday clothing that is functional, comfortable, and reasonably priced.
