Istanbul, the 'city of seven hills' in Turkey, dominated by Muslim populace is coming out of its shell in regards to fashion.
Bahar Korcan, the Istanbul based designer wants Turkey to carve a niche in the world fashion.
She opened first style office in Turkey in 1993. The trade mark of her designs are use of anatolian flower patterns on tweed jackets or covering buttons. She also uses traditional silver embroidery on a modern dress. Her clothes have a touch of traditional workmanship.
Bahar Korcan founded the Fashion Designers Association of Turkey in April comprising 7 designers and 40 like-minded people.
The organization aims to promote creative brands in Turkey as well as in the international markets.
