Many other innovative rakhis have flooded markets in India. Apart from the ones with the China-made tag, rakhis embedded with gemstones are also in great demand this festive season.
Rakhis imported from China are made from satin threads with small toys, dolls and flowers stuck on them. Many women have bought these rakhis as they found it attractive and different compared to the usual ones.
However, rakhis that have grabbed the biggest attention are the ones made of gemstones, zardosi work and enamel decorations. These can cost anything between Rs 5 to Rs 1,500.
Even the country's postal department has issued special envelopes that contain a rakhi and all the material necessary for the ceremony.
