A three day exhibition of formal, casual and bridal wear titled – 'The Colors of Eid', started on September 12 at Khiva Art Gallery (KAG) and concluded successfully on 14th of the month.

The event saw participation by Amina Khan, a Quaida-e-Azam University (QAU) graduate who displayed a unique and refreshing collection of formal and casual wear for ladies that evinces a perfect blend of eastern and western culture.

Amina disclosed her style and asserted that her clothes are always known to be simplistic. Her collection of clothes religiously made use of needle and threadwork, with hues of glaring red, orange and magenta. 'Simple yet stylish' – her line presented fashion savvy buyers with elegant party-wear.

In fact, the recent trend witnesses most of the fashion houses stressing on flaunting beautiful outfits with a touch of naivety, yet most of them have a section dedicated to flashy fashionable clothes. Ms Khan is presently working with Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and solemnly declares to have taken designing for ladies as her hobby which she has been persuing for the past three years.

The focus for this Eid season has been more inclined towards bigger patterns which can be evidently seen from the fact that most of the fashion houses have made deliberate use of metals and shells, bigger prints and embellishments to give a less floral and trendier look to their garments.

Glitzy pink and turquoise have been among the most opted hues these days and were generously used in Amina's work that caters to a wide range of people. However, vibrant reds, which is big this season, and a palette full of other bright colors, were also quite conspicuous on the rack.

Moreover, fabrics ranging from basic cotton and silk to chiffon, satin, georgette, organza, crepe, net and jamawar were meticulously used in varying combinations. Designs were luxurious, graceful and intricate and were beautified further with hand and machine embroidery as well as with thread and beadwork. A section of the line had also focused on brilliant cuts and patterns that were presented under the Amina's 'elegant collection'.
