Dallas Market Center announced that the Personal Style Award will be presented to Gianna Madrini during the 33rd annual Dallas Fashion Awards gala taking place on October 25, 2008. Madrini will be honored for her ongoing contributions to the fashion industry and her remarkable personal style. She is the style editor and executive producer of Global Fashion News, a production company.

“Gianna Madrini has made significant contributions to the fashion industry during more than a decade leading Global Fashion News,” said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, Dallas Market Center. “For her leadership in Dallas and internationally we are pleased to present her with the Personal Style Award.”

“I'm honored to be presented with this award,” said Madrini. “My passion for this creative industry has allowed me to work among design icons and emerging talent, whose boundless energy and true originality are a continuing inspiration.”

Madrini was born in Italy and grew up in Italy, Britain and the United States. She attended St. Mary's University in California where she studied liberal arts and after graduation moved to New York City and held editorial positions at publications such as Avenue, Hamptons Magazine and Elle. In 1994, Madrini married a Texas commercial real estate builder and moved to Dallas. She divides her time between New York and Dallas, where she lives in downtown Deep Ellum.

A noted authority on fashion, Madrini has written and produced documentaries and programs for E! Entertainment, Fox, Univision and Lifetime as well as spoken at numerous conferences, universities and fashion groups.

She is a member of Fashion Group International, Women in Film and the Dallas Fashion Incubator/Texas Next Top Designer. Madrini is also passionate about mentoring young people and has established a fashion internship program with universities including the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University, Baylor University and other Dallas area colleges.

The Personal Style Award will be presented during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala on Saturday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. in The Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart.

Past recipients of the Personal Style Award include Linda Gray, Faye Dunaway, Bernadette Peters, Carol Burnett, Jane Seymour, and Gerald and Debbie Barnes.

Category finalists will be invited to design custom denim jackets, which will be auctioned in the spring at the Dallas Collective gala benefiting the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Dallas Market Center will also host a silent auction benefiting the Fashion Group International Scholarship Fund during the gala.

Dallas Market Center would like to thank Rosewood Crescent Hotel Dallas, Champagne Piper-Heidsieck, PaperCity and FIJI Water for their sponsorship of the event.

The Dallas Fashion Awards, now in its 33rd year, is the oldest retailer-chosen awards program in the country. The Awards recognize “superior design innovation, quality workmanship and retail performance.” The 25 finalists in eight categories are nominated by a committee comprised of fashion press and industry experts. Retailers vote for their choice in each category and the winners will be announced during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala on October 25, 2008.
