CMC partners with Fashion Business Inc for 'Market Tuesdays'

The California Market Center [CMC] is initiating “Market Tuesdays” beginning on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. “Market Tuesdays” will occur throughout 2009 during “non-market” months. In an effort to encourage off-market activity, the CMC's participating showrooms and restaurants will offer discounts, incentives & promotions to attending local retailers. Additionally, the CMC has partnered again with Fashion Business Inc. to provide visiting retailers with retailer focused lunch time seminars.
“Both retailers and showrooms are adapting the way they normally work in order to succeed in this difficult economy. Market Tuesdays at the CMC will offer both parties new opportunities to do business in between Markets with additional perks and incentives. We have already been receiving great interest and response, and expect that Market Tuesdays will be a very welcome addition to the CMC calendar,” says Joanne Lee, Senior Vice President of CMC Services.
Many tenants from each floor and product category of the California Market Center plan to participate in Market Tuesdays with merchandise ranging from Kids to Contemporary to Accessories to Updated and more. Tenants also plan to offer buyers incentives for orders placed during a Market Tuesday. Varying showroom promotions will include free shipping, 10% discounts, etc., and many will offer free breakfast, lunch, cocktails and more. For example, Laundry by Shelli Segal (A587) will offer 10-30% discounts, ABS by Allen Schwartz (A555) will offer discounts, breakfast and lunch, the Lynn Girard Showroom (C585) will offer discounts on lines including Spanx, Voom by Joy Han (B1213) will offer 10% discounts, The Allison Showroom (B603) will offer free shipping on orders over $500, Hobo International (A1075) will give a free gift with an order placed, as well as many more.
The CMC will validate buyer parking with proof of a purchase order from a participating CMC showroom on that Market Tuesday. Additionally, buyers will be offered $5 box-lunches from participating restaurants [Trimana Café] on Market Tuesdays.
From 12:00pm – 1:00pm during Market Tuesdays, Fashion Business Inc. will present a seminar specifically geared for our visiting retailers. The free seminar will take place in the Fashion Theater and retailers are welcome to enjoy their lunch while participating in the seminar. The first Market Tuesday on February 3, 2009 will feature the seminar titled, “Impact of the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) on the Apparel Business.” Future seminars will cover topics such as, “Finding Funding in a Down Economy,” “Branding and Marketing for Retailers,” “How to Capture Returning Customers” and more.
